MRS Agar is designed to encourage the growth of lactic acid bacteria. It was originally developed by de Man, Rogosa & Sharpe (hence the name M.R.S.) for Lactobacillus species.
Simply add 62g to 1L distilled water, stir whilst heating to dissolve, then sterilise in an autoclave before using.
Ready prepared MRS Agar Petri Dishes are also available.
