Apple cider vinegar is the perfect environment for vinegar eels (also know as Anguilla Aceti or Turbatrix Aceti). The vinegar eel, as the name suggests, lives in acidic vinegar, however is not an eel but a nematode.
This apple cider vinegar (ACV) is unpasteurised and contains 'the mother', these beneficial bacteria often give the vinegar a cloudy appearance.
To culture, decant the vinegar eels into a larger jar containing this apple cider vinegar, water and a slice of apple, leave the lid loose to allow airflow.
